Cardiffstormchaser.net was created on June 9th 2009 by a young, local Cardiff resident who was still studying at school. With a keen interest in severe weather and storm chasing the website was originally set up as a way of presenting the images and videos of his storm chasing activities. The website quickly developed and grew. Very soon he began posting severe weather forecasts for the UK and around the world. As the website continued to grow, the services provided quickly expanded. Offering daily forecasts for the UK via the website, email and even text, the workload, running costs and time needed quickly increased and with no funding other than his own this service unfortunately could no longer be continued.
Now studying at University there unfortunately is not the time to create daily forecasts or forecasts for every event but major weather events for the UK and worldwide are still being covered by himself and other members of the community.
The original purpose of the website remains in full operation with new images and videos posted regularly in the the relevant sections.
Other forms of presenting weather forecasts and news updates have recently been explored with the use of Twitter being the most successful. Started around August 2010 Twitter has proven to be a great asset with many visitors to the site now coming from Twitter.
